With over 20 years of experience in the global Jewelry and Gemstone Industry, Hayley Henning has a substantial impact in every facet of the sector.
With a focus on the luxury marketplace, she is a leading professional in “mine to market” sales strategies and best market practices for all industry stakeholders.
Her accomplishments span from growing an emerging market for colored gemstones, to providing assistance to manufacturers and retailers, creating collaborations between jewelry designers and dealers, to achieve sales via various channels.
Hayley is also well known for her CSR engagement with local communities at the mining sites.
Hayley was the driving force behind The Tanzanite Foundation as Executive Director. Her main achievement was to give Tanzanite a sustainable position in the colored gemstone industry with significant sales and brand recognition. During that time, Hayley was also making a difference in the lives of the local communities outside the tanzanite mining areas, which lead her to spearhead several corporate social responsibility programs in the region. This resulted in the construction of schools and orphanages, as well as setting up The Maasai Ladies Project teaching a group of Maasai women jewelry making techniques and business practices. This project was recognized by the United Nations as being a relevant part of the Millennium Development Goals as Women’s Empowerment Initiatives.
Hayley is now the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Greenland Ruby, a Greenland based company, a subsidiary of Rana Gruber in Norway, licensed to mine and develop the business for rubies and pink sapphires from Greenland, a unique opportunity to introduce the luxury marketplace to a new source of gem.
As a highly visible leader in the Jewelry and Gemstone Industry she is a member of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA), ICA (International Gemstone Association) New York Jewelers Group (NYJA). Hayley also served on various industry committees and has published a book together with Didier Brodbeck, appropriately titled Tanzanite: Born From Lightning.
Hayley is an advocate for all women in our industry, and serves on the Boards of both the New York Metro, and International WJA Committees, where she handles mentoring and growing International membership, respectively.
